Kevin Slappey is an award winning filmmaker from DeLand Florida, now living in Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania. Kevin has always loved movies, but he really developed a fascination with film in high school, after seeing arthouse films such as George Sluizer’s The Vanishing and Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove. Kevin then took a TV Production class in high school where he learned to shoot and edit video. This led him to pursue a career as a video editor, which brought him to be a Film Major at DeSales University. While at school, he developed a love for writing and directing films, which culminated in his film Illusions, which was accepted into nine film festivals (and counting) and won best student film at the Niagara Falls International Short Festival. His biggest influences today are works from central Europe, particularly the Czech New Wave of the 60s-70s. These days Kevin is editing and color grading various projects, as well as writing screenplays and shooting experimental film.
